My chucks take on…

to Travel, Photography and everything in between

Witam!

Hey hey! I’m Kat and I’m happy you’re here 🙂

Little about me and my hope for this blog, bare with me, I’m new here. Being a major procrastinator comes with a price. I’ve been meaning to start this blog for years and it only took me getting rib removal surgery (thanks TOS) and a decent amount of time off work for me to buckle down and start writing. Better late than never I guess. If my blog is riddled with grammar mistakes, I apologize in advance I’m not a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist or a NYT best selling author. I am, on the other hand a lover of travel, capturing memories and now a documenter of those experiences. Posting only on instagram wasn’t cutting it and I knew deep down I needed to start sharing my story to showcase how I travel by curating travel guides for the lazy traveler. My hope is that they will help you navigate your next destination, kick start your trip or simply be a quick reference when stumped with the “what should we do next” question. I’m a self taught photographer, it’s a passion of mine and gets me through the dreadful 9-5 work day. Things I typically gravitate/capture are city landscapes, architecture, food, drinks, animals, aesthetic and weird looking things. I’ll be sharing some of my favorite photos from each trip as I go on. Stick around, and I hope you find some enjoyment from my site. See ya!

…Prague, Czech Republic🇨🇿

Prague is one of those cities that at every turn you’ll have something to do and see. There is so much history and incredible gothic architecture to take in that you’ll need to have your camera ready at all times to be able to capture it all.

If you like beer, then PRAGUE IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. As it is cheaper than water and the home of Pilsner Urquell expect to be properly buzzed throughout your trip. If that’s your sort of thing.

Kuchyň

Here are some places I explored during my trip that are worth checking out:

What to see:

City Hall (Mariánské nám. 2/2, 110 00 Josefov, Czechiaa) to check out the non-stop elevator. Walk around the 1st floor to find it (it’s a cool hidden gem you’ll want to experience).

The Dancing House (Jiráskovo nám. 1981/6, 120 00 Nové Město) with its whimsical architecture, this hotel offers a great rooftop with sick 360 views of the city. 100 Czech Koruna will get you inside however if you purchase a drink, entry is free.

Dancing House

LOKAL aka Lidová jídelna Těšnov aka food hall (Těšnov 1163/5, 110 00 Praha 1-Nové Město-Petrská čtvrť ) favorite no frills spot to grab affordable, authentic Czech cuisine. The fried cheese will have you drooling for more…trust.

Grand Café Orient (Ovocný trh 19, 110 00 Staré Město) Delicious breakfast, coffee. Run over to the cubist museum, check out the staircase. It looks like a light bulb. (See below)

Cafe Louvre (Národní 22, 110 00 Nové Město, Czechia). A 100 year old restaurant serving French and Czech cuisine. Located in new town, tbh it wasn’t my all time memorable spot but learning that Albert Einstein ate there was cool.

Right next to the Františkánská Zahrada -small garden in the middle of the city, (Pasáž Světozor 110 00, 110 00 Nové Město) is a small shopping strip with lovely ice cream and chlebicki (open face sandwiches).

Walk into as many churches you can, the architecture of these churches is truly remarkable. They’re gothic, intricate and thousands of years old.

As with any popular destination, waking up early to beat the crowd is your best bet.

Old Town Hall Tower Astronomical clock for 110 czk (tickets to left building 3rd floor) 360 view of town square

Astronomical clock

Old Town Bridge Tower = same side of river as Old Town Hall Tower, *hidden entrance , much less people

Powder tower (find the hidden doorway it’s 100czk to go up). Go right before they close, chances are you’ll be the only one there and at night it’s spooky offering great views of old town.

Charles Bridge dating back to 14th century. *go there for sunrise or sunset*

Pro Tips:

The Metro only runs until midnight. 30min is 24 czk 90min is 32 czk or a day pass for 110 czk. Since Prague is a very walkable city and has accessible lime scooters, I found that the metro was not needed during my stay.

Beat the crowd and visit the castle on the hill and cathedral before 9am. Head over to Kuchyň afterward for a great beer and views of the city.

Libeřské lahůdky quick bite spots to get chlebicek (open face sandwiches) or salatka (salad).

FYI the beer is cheaper than water, my recommendation is to get those big water bottles from the deli they’re 69czk otherwise the restaurants rip you off and charge you for refills.

Happy traveling!!
